OkaZHI receives the CNIS Volunteer of the Year Award

Since 1997, CNIS has given out a Volunteer of the Year Award to one of our volunteers who has made a unique contribution to CNIS and its mandate. Volunteer of the Year - CNIS - Canadian Network for International Surgery This year is the first year that the award is not given to an individual, but to an organization.

The CNIS Volunteer Appreciation Evening will be held on Thursday March 18 (from 6.30 - 8 pm). The Okanagan Zambia Health Initiative will receive the Volunteer of the Year Award for 2009 for their communal contribution towards 'Safer Surgery, Obstetrics and Communities in Africa'. OkaZHI is an inspiration to all volunteers, who offer their loyal help but have never worked in the field in Africa.
